Google Slide – lesson support
This set of Google slides includes the Learning Intentions and Success Criteria for the lesson, and includes basic instructions for students.
Google Doc – Rubrics
This is a rubric for students and teachers based upon the success criteria of the lesson.
To successfully design, plan and build maze that would be challenging to a peer, ask yourself:
- Who will use my maze?
- What will make a maze challenging to my audience?
- How can I improve my maze based on feedback received?
Formative assessment
Teacher to student: maintain constant supervision of the development of the project by transporting self in real time and providing every student feedback about the progress of their build [via chat]
Teacher to student: at the end of each session provide feedback to the class about their progress, consider the where-to-next for the next lesson. At the start of each session, teacher to remind students of the success criteria for the lesson based on previous feedback
Peer-to-peer feedback: Opportunity to provide feedback in the form of “One Star and One Wish” during designated times that students visit the maze build. Feedback to be posted on a sign beside the build.
Self- Assessment: Students to use the success criteria of a build to reflect upon and review their work, making adjustments as needed
Summative Assessment:
At the end of the task, teacher will provide written feedback, in the form of a rubric [see link below] as well as the provision of Minecraft Emeralds to students, for each of the following considerations:
1. Was the task was completed in the time allowed
2. The quality the build – did the student work towards the success criteria?
3. Evidence that the student reflected on their build and made suitable adjustments
